Missions

Why missions?  ...Because the goods news of Jesus is meant for everyone to hear.  One of the last things Jesus said to His followers before ascending to heaven was "to make disciples of all nations."  Our church family believes that missions begins right outside the doors of the church building.  When we leave our parking lot, we are driving into our nearest mission field.  However, the remotest parts of the planet are in need of the same Good News; therefore, we cooperate with Southern Baptists throughout the world in missions giving through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention.

"Go ye therefore ..." is the beginning statement of the what is called the Great Commission, found in the last two verses in Matthew.  Our "'going" took a group to serve and minister to the White Mountain Apache Nation near Showlow, Arizona through backyard Bible clubs and construction projects.  Another group went to Mexico again to continue the work that our church began a few years ago through medical and optometric services. Everywhere we go, we find people who need the Lord and a "cup of cool water" given in His name.  Begin praying and planning right now for God's plan in your life to be revealed concerning missions.

A key role in missions has always been Missions Giving. Our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is dedicated to mission endeavors throughout our entire planet.  Our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is used for missions in North America.  Our state missions offering is called the Dixie Jackson offering.  Those gifts are used to promote missions throughout Arkansas.

We believe that our church's local ministry is supported through our tithes.  However, offerings, those gifts that are above our tithes, are used to support these special, God designed ministries.
